Ivy Zhou Wins Scholastic Contest!
Lenox Ed is excited to announce we have another winner to add to our list of previous contest winners. Ivy Zhou, a 4th/5th-grade writing class student, recently won the "Paired Texts" contest advertised in the December 2022/January 2023 issue of Scope Magazine.
Using two articles that Scope provided, Ivy wrote an expository essay comparing the rise in popularity of tacos and spaghetti and meatballs in the United States during the 1950s and '60s. The judges were impressed and specifically complimented her by saying, "We loved the way you used quotations to support your arguments. Great work!"
When asked how she felt about winning, Ivy told us, "I was very happy when I heard I won. I was a little bit surprised, but I did think that I did a good job when I submitted my writing to the competition."
Lenox Ed writing class students work on competition entries at the beginning of every semester and submit them to various writing contests. We are thrilled that Ivy's progress and hard work were recognized by Scope's judges!
